About Vakhamo Home for The Frail OlderPersons
The Vakhoma Home for The Frail Older Persons, an NPO established in 2008 by community members of Chiawelo, serves as a refuge for elderly individuals who have experienced homelessness, rape, or abuse. Currently accommodating more than 56 elderly residents and staffed by 6 caregivers, the home has become a vital support system for the community. In 2017, the Collen Mashawana Foundation assumed responsibility for the home. In collaboration with Afribiz Invest, the foundation undertook the refurbishment of the home's dining hall in 2018 as part of its ongoing social welfare development projects.
This initiative was launched to demonstrate our commitment to elderly care and underscore its importance for all stakeholders. Through this effort, we have forged partnerships with organizations across South Africa, such as the Vakhoma Home for The Frail Older Persons, which operate at the grassroots level in some of the most underdeveloped regions, to achieve various welfare objectives.
Program Objectives
To promote inclusive welfare to address the social needs of the elderly.
To provide additional support necessary for the elderly to experience a high quality of life.
To improve welfare programs inclusivity in response to the ongoing challenges of exclusion and substandard treatment faced by the elderly.
